Hit-And-Run Driver Involved In BK DJ's Death Takes Plea Deal: DA
Kevin Ozoria pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of a 2016 crash that cost Brooklyn DJ Jinx Paul his life, prosecutors said.

EAST NEW YORK, BROOKLYN β The hit-and-run driver who rammed into Brooklyn DJ Jinx Paul in 2016 pleaded guilty Monday to leaving the scene, Brooklyn prosecutors said.
Kevin Ozoria, 28, admitted to speeding away after he slammed into Mega 97.9 FM host Jean Paul Guerrero near Sheffield and Jamaica avenues in East New York on Dec. 19, 2016, according to the Brooklyn District Attorney's office.
"Instead of calling an ambulance or offering aid, this defendant left the scene of a crash," stated District Attorney Eric Gonzalez. "This defendant has now taken responsibility."

Ozoria was arrested in November 2017, almost one year after emergency responders found the 39-year-old DJ lying in the street, said prosecutors.
Although Ozoria confessed days later to driving the car that hit Guerrero, he was released because police lacked evidence to arrest him.

It was when investigators found surveillance footage near the crash scene that showed his 2010 Honda Accord, which needed repairs for a shattered windshield, that police were able to charge him, said prosecutors.
Ozoria faced up to seven years in prison if convicted and his sentencing is slated for May 1, city records show.
