• With Peconic Estuary at risk, Navy timeline too slow: Schumer (riverheadlocal.com) — PFAS-contaminated groundwater from the former Navy/Grumman site in Calverton is still moving toward the Peconic River system, and Sen. • No public turnout at Riverhead IDA hearing on $35M Town Square hotel tax breaks (riverheadlocal.com) — Riverhead's IDA held a public hearing on major tax breaks for a proposed $35 million Town Square hotel, but no residents showed up, so written comments are being accepted through the Oct. 5 meeting. The agency also heard an expansion request for a Scott Avenue business in Calverton, while ongoing problems with the IDA's outdated website raise concerns about public notice and transparency.
