NYMag Loves Carroll Garden's Dining Scene
New York Magazine's "101 Best Restaurants" includes plenty of dining spots in and around the neighborhood.

Adam Platt, New York Magazine’s food critic, has again compiled his yearly “101 Best Restaurants in New York” guide, and while it is very Manhattan-heavy (Eleven Madison Park, Le Bernardin and Per Se are the top three picks), a few Brooklyn names have graced the list this year.
Platt writes that when he first began compiling the 101-best list in 2006, Brooklyn was a very “minor” culinary destination, but today the borough has “become a primary dining destination for thrill-seeking swells.”
This year, Carroll Gardens and Cobble Hill took home more honors than any other Brooklyn neighborhood in terms of placement on the list.

At number 67 is , which Platt calls “an elevated, barbecue-centric bourbon joint.” He recommends the maple-smoked bacon and the barbeque pork sandwich with a mustard-tinged sauce.
also made the list at number 86, and Platt says that if you can get past the “bewhiskered barkeeps” and the crowds, the beef brisket, puffy schnitzel and house-brined sauerkraut will make the trip worth it.

At number 94 is , what Platt calls the showcase for Frank Castronovo and Frank Falcinelli’s “elegantly sturdy, eminently satisfying brand of neoclassical, family-style red-sauce cooking,” urging readers to try the meatballs with Sunday sauce, as well as the crème brûlée.
Char No. 4 and Frankies were with their spread proclaiming Brooklyn “the coolest city in the world.” And wrote that his favorite meal -- crostini, cold rib-eye salad, cavatelli and sausage with brown butter, meatballs, and braciola marinara -- was at Frankies.
And while not immediately in the neighborhood, it’s worth mentioning that neighbor Chef's Table at Brooklyn Fare, located in Downtown Brooklyn, received Platt’s tremendous honor of being listed at number 10 (only a few spots below the aforementioned Le Bernadin and Per Se).
