
ARMONK PLAYERS PRESENT A FULL SPRING SCHEDULE
Armonk, NY….It is time to mark your calendars as Pia Haas, artistic director of Armonk Players, has just released a packed schedule of play readings occurring almost weekly for May and June. While all shows are free, donations are always greatly appreciated.
Thursday, May 11th at 7:30pm Armonk Players present THORNWOOD by Richard Vetere with Ilene Kristen and Maja Wampuszyc. Over thirty years earlier, when Eve Harris lived in Thornwood in Westchester County, her daughter Kaylee disappeared and was never heard from again. This mystery is full of turns, twists and surprises. Playwright Richard Vetere will attend the reading of Thornwood and there will be an opportunity for questions and answers after the reading.

Friday, May 19th at 8pm and Saturday, May 20th at 4pm, CENTENNIAL CASTING by Gino DiIorio and Nancy Bleemer, will be performed with scripts in hand under the direction of Pia Haas. It features Miguel Acevedo, Donna Bonelli, Joan Cavallo, Steve Skwarek and Daniel Basiletti. This hilarious comedy is about love and mistaken identify. It is the story of two ordinary people in an extraordinary situation who find dreams can really come true.
Monday May 22nd at 7:30pm Armonk Players present a reading of THE SISTERS. This one night only special pre-production preview of a new play by Mary Miller and Michael LaPolla takes place in NYC from spring to early autumn of 1947. Prior to the outbreak of WWII, the D’Alessandro family, Andrea D’Alessandro and his three beautiful sisters leave the fascist and anti-semitic climate in Italy for the safety of America. Settling in a tenement apartment in Manhattan’s Lower East Side, they must find a way to let go of their past as they struggle to navigate an uncertain future. The story delves into the topic of the 150,000 Italian Jews sent to Auschwitz when Mussolini joined forces with Hitler.

Friday, June 2nd at 8pm and Sunday June 4 at 4pm, Pia Haas directs The Players in TUESDAYS WITH MORRIE by Jeffrey Hatcher and Mitch Albom, based on the book by Mitch Albom. The actors are Eric Schuster and Bruce Apar. Morrie, formerly Mitch’s sociology professor, mentor, advisor and life coach is dying. Mitch, now a busy sportswriter with a frantic schedule and troubled marriage pays Morrie a visit. One visit turns into a weekly pilgrimage and a final course in the meaning of life, filled with compassion, humor and hope. The actors will perform with scripts in hand.
Friday, June 9th at 7:30 pm the audience is invited to participate with the Armonk Players in WORD. “Word” is the shortened form of the phrase: “my word is my bond,” meaning “truth” or “to speak the truth” (urbandictionary.com). This event features performers telling stories using a one-word theme. Host Ro Moran and featured storytellers Chris Vespoli, Laura Maltz and NPR’s Moth StorySLAM Champion, Ivy Eisenberg, will travel to Armonk’s Whippoorwill Theater for a night of laughs around this month’s featured Word: POPS. You are invited to join in! Open mic storytellers of all levels can put their name in a hat for an opportunity to share a tale of their own, limited to 5-minutes slots, with first-person, true stories only. A $15 donation is requested at the door while admission may still be free.
