Byram Hills Student Wins At International Science & Engineering Fair

ARMONK, NY — A Byram Hills High School student earned international recognition for her research that could help to answer an age-old question about how we learn.

The Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (Regeneron ISEF), the world’s largest global high school competition was held in Atlanta from May 8-13. The competition featured 1,750 young scientists representing 49 states and 63 countries, regions and territories across the world. In total, awards valued at nearly $8 million were awarded to the finalists, who were evaluated based on their projects’ creativity, innovation and level of scientific inquiry.

"Congratulations to Edith Bachmann for being awarded third place for her investigation of storytelling and its impact on children's executive function skills at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in Atlanta, GA.," Byram Hills Central School District said in a statement announcing the impressive feat. "The fair hosted 1,750 students from 63 countries and territories. What a fantastic accomplishment, Edith."

For the first time since 2019, ISEF finalists competed in person. More than half of the finalists gathered in Atlanta, GA at the Georgia World Congress Center and the remaining finalists participated virtually.
