Chappaqua Gets Couture'd

Chappaqua resident Yulia Omelich will open a high-end fashion boutique inspired by the principles of Wall Street.

A new luxury fashion boutique is coming to the former site of a flower shop next to Quaker Hill Tavern.

COUTUREDossier, will open Sept. 15 at 67 N. Bedford Rd. It is owned by Chappaqua resident Yulia Omelich. It will feature a grand opening that day and include photographers and designers.

"I drove by and saw the space, and it was meant to be," Omelich said.

Omelich's working history includes international diplomacy and 10 years on Wall Street. While she has since given up her Wall Street career to raise her two young children, she has taken the principles she learned there and applied them to a career in fashion.

While COUTUREDossier will be her first store, she has applied the same concept to an e-commerce business over the past few years - such as on EBay - and has a customer base of more than 200 people around the world.

"People say it's a clothing store, but it's not really a clothing store," Omelich said. "My philosophy is investing your capital in what appreciates."

By selling high-end items by designers like Prada, Christian Dior and Chanel, Omelich hopes to help her clients manage successful fashion portfolios. She carefully tracks fashion items that have solid track records that appreciate over time. Also, she keep archives of timeless items worn throughout generations on major movie stars and political leaders.

"A purse can be an investment, and that's the philosophy behind COUTUREDossier," she said. "I am confident it is going to work."

In addition, Omelich will also be selling her own designs. She is starting with coats in wool and cashmere with mink trim.

"Hopefully, it will turn into a Chappaqua jewel," she said.
