Chappaqua Students Reported Infected With New Coronavirus
The number of active cases in New Castle jumped to 6 from 2 since Horace Greeley High School graduation ceremonies and parties took place.

CHAPPAQUA, NY — The Chappaqua Volunteer Ambulance Corps has shut down its youth corps temporarily amid news that some Horace Greeley High School students have tested positive for the new coronavirus since graduation ceremonies and parties took place last weekend.
New Castle has six active cases of COVID-19, up from two active cases June 21, according to Westchester County.

CVAC officials had just reopened their Youth Corps, which had been been shut down since the outbreak began to build in Westchester County in early March — but reversed course after hearing of the new local outbreak.
"Our duty is to our members and also to our patients," CVAC Captain Kate Clough told Patch.

None of CVAC's members have tested positive, she said. The volunteer group has been following all state pandemic protocols for first responders and is in weekly contact with state officials.
There were two active cases of COVID-19 in New Castle from June 18-21. The number jumped to five on June 22. There are six active cases in New Castle now, according to Westchester county's most recent report.
Commenters on social media alleged at least one student went to Florida, became infected and then attended graduation, where the school's pandemic protocols were not uniformly followed.

Florida was one of the targets of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut's governors, who on Wednesday issued a joint travel advisory for travelers from states with high coronavirus infection rates.
