Crews Rush To Contain Saw Mill Tanker Rollover Spill Near Kisco River

Katonah FD, WCPD Environmental Security, WCDES HazMat Team, Mount Kisco FD & Department of Public Works, NYC DEP and NYSDEC responded.

MOUNT KISCO, NY — A diesel tanker rollover and fuel spill Monday morning had crews rushing to contain the leak and help the injured.

The rollover accident happened between the Saw Mill River Parkway and Lexington Avenue on an access road that leads to a pump house. The spill was relatively small and the driver was not seriously injured, according to the Westchester County Department of Emergency Services.

The Mount Kisco Fire Department and the Mount Kisco Department of Public Works were able to quickly contain the spill in an area critical to the New York City water supply watershed. The Westchester County Police Department assisted at the scene.

Inspector Steve Carrol of the Westchester County Police Department Environmental Security Unit, Chief of Special Operations Doug Stiller and the HazMat Team from the Westchester County Department of Emergency Services, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and the New York City Department of Environmental Protection all responded to the scene as well.
