DAR Historic Preservation Recognition Awarded to Mike Kirsch
Polly Cooper Chapter, NSDAR Recognizes Local Volunteer for Historic Preservation Efforts

The Polly Cooper Chapter, National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, recognized Michael Kirsch for his volunteer efforts at a ceremony held at the Mt. Kisco Historical Society the evening of Sept. 17, 2024.
Colleagues, dignitaries, friends and neighbors joined together to celebrate Mike for his years of volunteer service preserving the local history of our community.
Kim McCrea, Polly Cooper Historic Preservation Chapter Chair, presented the Historic Preservation Recognition award to Mike citing his on-going volunteer efforts at the Mt. Kisco Historical Society and with the Mt. Kisco Landmarks and Historic Preservation Commission. Among his many accomplishments, one of particularly special meaning to the DAR is Mike's spearheading efforts to recognize Washington Rock in Mt. Kisco with a William H. Pomeroy Legends and Lore plaque.

Barbara Chesney, National Vice Chair of the DAR Historic Preservation Recognition award wrote, "Mike is a remarkable person, who coordinates his love of historic preservation with his ability to work with community groups. He has a wide breadth of accomplishments and truly deserves the DAR Historic Preservation Recognition Award for the many volunteer activities in which he is engage. His tireless work and ability to work with others enable him to make significant contributions to those interested in historic preservation and the community."
Ralph Vigliotti, President of the Mt. Kisco Historical Society and Jessica Cox, one of the Historical Society's trustees spoke of Mike's love of educating the public about Mt. Kisco's history and his contagious enthusiasm for sharing this passion.

Also in attendance was County Legislator, Erika Pierce, who presented Mr. Kirsch with a Westchester Board of Legislators Certificate of Merit, underscoring the importance of Mike's efforts.
Polly Cooper Regent Rosemarie Schmidt stated, " We are so pleased to be able to recognize Mike for his outstanding volunteer efforts in promoting and preserving the rich history of Mt. Kisco."
