DAR Recognizes John and Emmy Creskeyfor Contributions to Our Community

Polly Cooper Chapter, NSDAR Recognizes American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary Leadership for Their Service

The Polly Cooper Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution had the honor of recognizing John and Emmy Creskey for their contributions to our community, most notably veterans and active-duty military.

Patriotism is one of the main pillars of the NSDAR and the Creskeys each promote and support efforts which demonstrate patriotism and tangible and meaningful ways.

Regent Rosemarie Schmidt, Community Service Chair Kim McCrea and Service to Veterans Chair Muriel Stegmann attended the Adolph Pfister Unit 1038 meeting of the American Legion Auxiliary on October 17, 2024 to present a Community Service Award to American Legion Commander John Creskey and a DAR Award of Appreciation to American Legion Auxiliary President Emmy Cresky.

Letters of nomination for John underscored his commitment to the community by visiting sick veterans at home and in hospitals, organizing care packages, supporting veterans with food insecurities by running food drives and honoring deceased veterans by adorning gravesites with US Flags on Memorial Day. Kim McCrea stated, " John regularly visits local schools to speak about veterans and their service as well the importance of the American Flag and respecting the flag using proper Flag etiquette."

John's wife Emmy Creskey always finds a way to serve the veteran community, both domestic and internationally. She has demonstrated her leadership abilities and focus on service to the community as President of the American Legion Auxiliary. Ms. McCrea specifically highlighted Emmy's support of the non-profit My Brother Vinny by providing food bags for once homeless veterans, for her work with the Auxiliary compiling shoe box care packages for veterans living "off the grid", delivering birthday bags to veterans at the VA enters in Montrose and the Bronx and her involvement with Operation Shower which donates hand-made and purchased items for expectant military families who are deployed.

"I am thrilled that our organization has the opportunity to recognize the Creskys for all that they do in our community. The common missions of our organizations to support our military and remember the service of our veterans is alive and well as evidenced by the tremendous work the Creskys lead."

Both John and Emmy graciously thanked their respective teams for everything they do. "It is truly a team effort and we wouldn't be able to accomplish any of these things without the assistance and support of our members", acknowledged John.
