Hudson Valley's Best School Districts 2020: New Rankings

HUDSON VALLEY, NY - Downstate dominates a list released by Niche.com of the best school districts in the state for the 2019-2020 school year. Thirty-seven of the Empire State's top 100 districts are in the lower and mid Hudson Valley and 38 are located on Long Island, according to Niche.

The list was released Monday as part of the website's 2020 K-12 rankings.

Each New York district received a letter grade in the following categories: academics; diversity; teachers; college prep; clubs & activities; health & safety; administration; sports; food; and resources & facilities.

To arrive at the rankings, Niche looked at data from the U.S. Department of Education as well as test scores, college data, and ratings collected from Niche users. (You can read more about the methodology here.)

Niche ranked 693 districts in New York. The Hudson Valley district top-ranked in the state is Scarsdale. Niche gave Scarsdale an overall A+ but in clubs and activities it received an A and in diversity only a B.
