Mt. Kisco's Gary Knell to Become CEO for NPR

Gary Knell has been named the new president and chief executive officer for National Public Radio, the organization reported.

Knell will take over his new role on Dec. 1, NPR reported and announced. In his current role, he is CEO of Sesame Street Workshop, which produces content for the popular, muppet-based kids show.

In a statement released by and reported by NPR, Knell said: "What an opportunity to work with the incredibly talented staff here, and to partner with stations, as we continue to innovate, expand civil dialogue and set the standard for media."

According to his biographical information, via NPR, he has worked in his current role for 12 years. Will move into the new role to replace Vivian Schiller, who left in March amid a series of public relations controversies involving the organization, NPR stated.

Knell is a Mount Kisco resident, as his is wife, Kim Larson. This past spring, both were honored by the Katonah Museum of Art at the organization's annual gala ( for the photo gallery).
