Polly Cooper Chapter, DAR Supports Deployed Service Members Through United for the Troops

Members of the Polly Cooper Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), recently joined community volunteers at United for the Troops to assemble 78 care packages for active-duty military personnel deployed around the world.

Founded in November 2007, United for the Troops is a 100 percent volunteer organization dedicated to supporting deployed service members. Since its inception, the organization has sent more than 30,000 care packages to military personnel serving overseas. Each recipient receives two packages—one containing essential toiletries and another filled with snacks and comfort items.

The Polly Cooper Chapter was pleased to participate in the service project, which aligns closely with the DAR's longstanding commitment to supporting America's military members and veterans. Through the DAR's Project Patriot program, chapters across the nation provide assistance to active-duty service members and their families. The current DAR administration has also placed a special emphasis on honoring and supporting first responders and active-duty military personnel.

"Participating in projects like this is a meaningful way to show our appreciation for those who serve our nation," said Rosemarie Schmidt, Polly Cooper Chapter Project Patriot Chair. "Sending cards, letters, and comfort items to our deployed troops reminds them that they are not forgotten. Knowing that people back home are thinking of them can make a tremendous difference in morale during a deployment."
