Polly Cooper Chapter, NSDAR Honors Town of Yorktown with DAR America 250! Commendation Award

Yorktown Heights, NY — May 2, 2026 — The Polly Cooper Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) proudly presented the Town of Yorktown with the DAR America 250! Commendation Award in recognition of its outstanding contributions to preserving and promoting the legacy of the American Revolution. Councilman Ilian Gilbert accepted the award on behalf of the Town.

The DAR America 250! Commendation Medal and Certificate are awarded to individuals and organizations demonstrating exceptional dedication to honoring Revolutionary War Patriots, advancing public education, and fostering community awareness in advance of the nation’s 250th anniversary.

The Town of Yorktown was selected for its exemplary efforts in educating the public about the Battle of Pines Bridge, highlighting the service of the Rhode Island Regiment, and preserving the rich Revolutionary War history rooted in the local community. Through its continued commitment to historical interpretation and public engagement, Yorktown has played a vital role in ensuring these stories remain visible and meaningful to future generations.
