A Proud Welcome: DAR Greets 101 New U.S. Citizens

On April 8, 2026, in White Plains, the Honorable Thomas Quinones presided over a heartfelt naturalization ceremony at the Richard Daronco Courthouse, welcoming 101 new United States citizens. This momentous occasion marked the culmination of a rigorous journey, as these individuals celebrated their commitment to the values and ideals that define the American spirit.

The naturalization ceremony represents the final step in achieving U.S. citizenship, following the successful completion of a citizenship interview and exam. The 101 new citizens, representing 40 different countries, reflect the rich diversity that forms the fabric of the United States.

Members of the Polly Cooper and Hudson River Patriot Chapters, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR), Michelle Torosian and Rose Nowack, were honored to participate in the ceremony. They presented American flags, and flag code booklets to each new citizen—symbolizing a warm and meaningful welcome into the community.

Beyond marking an important personal milestone, the ceremony also underscored the importance of civic engagement. As new citizens, these individuals are encouraged to actively participate in their communities, exercise their right to vote, and uphold the democratic principles that make the United States a beacon of hope. Ms. Torosian noted the pride evident among the new citizens, with many registering to vote immediately following the ceremony.
