Scouts Receive DAR America 250! Commendation Award

Polly Cooper Chapter, NSDAR award Pound Ridge Scout Troops for Honoring Revolutionary War Patriots

The Polly Cooper Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution was pleased to present Pound Ridge Scout Troop 1 and Pound Ridge Cub Scout Pack each a DAR America 250! Commendation Award on Sept. 14, 2024.
The Scout troops worked extensively to arrange for the placement and dedication of an historical patriot marker for American Revolutionary soldiers interred at Buxton Cemetery in Bedford Hills, NY.

The historical marker, generously donated by the William G. Pomeroy Foundation, acknowledges the Revolutionary War Patriots buried in the cemetery. The authenticity of the was verified by the New York State Sons of the American Revolution.

spoke of how important importance it is to have young citizens remember our Revolutionary Patriots on the eve of our nation’s 250th anniversary. The The DAR America 250! Commendation medal and certificate set is awarded to individuals and groups that have demonstrated extraordinary efforts to not only honor the men and women who achieved American Independence, but also to educate others about their service and to raise awareness of the Patriots who supported the cause of liberty during the American Revolutionary War.
