The Secret Life Of Backyard Birdwatchers

Ever wondered what kind of bird just landed on the kitchen windowsill? Now is your chance to be annoyingly knowledgeable.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Bird watching can become an all-consuming hobby, but knowing what you are looking at when you see a rare specimen during a hike or on the patio can be a thrill for even the most casual birders.

The Westchester County Parks Conservation Division is hosting a "Backyard Birding Bonanza" program, on Jan. 22, at eight picturesque locations around the county. Participants will learn about birds in the region, participate in crafts and there will be a few surprises.
