Four Hospitalized After Blown Red Light Crash in Suffolk County: Cops

One woman needed to be extricated from a car Tuesday night. She was airlifted to the hospital.

COMMACK, NY - Four people were hospitalized after a blown red light crash in Commack on Tuesday night, according to Suffolk Police.

At 11:35 p.m. a man driving a 1998 Dodge Durango went through a red light and collided with a 2016 Toyota Prius that was exiting North Ridge Primary School at 300 Town Line Road, police said.

The Durango, which was carrying three passengers, then struck a pole in front of the school.

A woman in the back seat was extricated and transported via Suffolk County Police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital, police said.

Her condition is unknown at this time.

The driver and another passenger were transported to a local hospital by Commack Ambulance with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

The male driver of the Prius was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore with non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation is continuing.
