Huntington Town Honors State Champion Commack Boys Soccer Team
Team recognized at a meeting this week.

At Tuesday’s Huntington Town Board meeting, Supervisor Frank Petrone congratulated the Commack High School boys soccer team for winning the Class AA New York State championship last month.
Commack defeated Fairport, 2-0, in a game played Nov. 16 in upstate Middletown, capping a season in which the team went 21-1-1, earning the school’s first state soccer title in almost 20 years.
Petrone and his Town Board colleagues took special note of coach Dave Viegas, assistant coach Dave Moran and some of the team members: Anthony Izzo, who scored both goals in the championship game and who was the most valuable player of the finals; Ryan Nigro, the most valuable player of the Suffolk County championship game; Justin Cebollero, a team captain and Suffolk County player of the year; and captains Connor Gill and Gene Sicoli.
