Huntington Station Raid Yields Weapons, Cocaine and Cash

The arrests came after an executed narcotics search warrant at a Lowndes Avenue home, police say.

Two men were arrested after police raided a Huntington Station home Thursday morning, authorities said.

Suffolk County Police say they executed a narcotics search warrant at a residence on Lowndes Avenue and found two men with with two loaded handguns, two loaded rifles, a loaded shotgun and approximately 5 ounces of cocaine. In addition, $4,000 in cash was seized.

Kareem Walters, 32, of Huntington Station, was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, police said.

Samuel Spells, 32, of Huntington Station, was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, three counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, three counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, police said.

The arrests were one of hundreds made as a result of the Huntington Station Violent Crimes Task Force, which was formed in July 2014 as part of a proactive strategy to reduce crime in Huntington Station. Since its formation the task force has made 496 arrests and issued 3,375 summonses in the Huntington Station area, police said.

Of those arrested, 59 were gang members, according to police.

Thursday’s arrests took place as a result of an extensive investigation which led to the execution of a narcotics search warrant. In response to neighborhood complaints of drug dealing, narcotics section detectives, Second Precinct detectives and other second precinct personnel conducted the narcotics investigation, police said.

Walters and Spells, are known gang members and are both on New York State parole, according to police.

They will be held overnight at the Second Precinct and are scheduled to be arraigned on Friday at First District Court in Central Islip.
