Police: Port Jeff Station Man Killed in Commack Crash Involving Drunk Driver
Crash occurred early Friday.

A Port Jefferson Station man was killed and a Central Islip man faces a DWI charge following a three-car crash in Commack Friday morning, police said.
According to police, Karl Njerve, 42, was driving a 2011 Lincoln Town Car westbound on Jericho Turnpike when his vehicle was struck by a 2000 Jeep, driven by Louis Muicela, which was traveling northbound on Commack Road at about 4:15 a.m.

The Jeep then struck a 2006 Nissan that was stopped at a red light on southbound Townline Road, police said.
Njerve, of Port Jefferson Station, was pronounced dead at the scene. Muicela, 38, of Central Islip, was treated for minor injuries at Huntington Hospital and charged with DWI. The driver of the Nissan, an East Northport woman, was not injured.

Muicela will be held overnight at the Fourth Precinct and will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Sunday, police said.
The vehicles were impounded for safety checks and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed this crash and has not been interviewed to contact Vehicular Crime Unit detectives at 631-852-6555.
