Yogurt Crazy Opens in Deer Park

Yogurt Crazy has opened its fifth store on Long Island, this one located in the Deer Park Avenue shopping center that also hosts a Starbucks, CVS Pharmacy and Five Guys burger joint.

The LI chain also has stores in Commack, Huntington, Woodbury and Northport, with stores on the way in East Meadow and Sayville. 

"We like the Deer Park area, we saw potential there," said Brendan Hackett, a co-owner. "It's a very nice shopping center. Also, like with all of our stores, we want to be near schools and in this case we are close to the high school."

In Deer Park-North Babylon, it's entering a crowded yogurt field - one that hardly existed a year ago.

"There's always competition," Hackett said. "That's not a problem. We aren't going to be alone."

National chain in the King Kullen shopping center in North Babylon last month. Red Mango also has a smaller store, not one of its full-scale self-serve shops, at the Tanger Outlets.

And opened its first store on Commack Road last year. Yo Go Wild owner Howie Geller had been a partner at Mace's Closeout City before entering the yogurt business. Early success has him eyeing expansion. In an April interview with Patch, Geller said he is targeting Commack and other areas.
