EAST ISLIP, NY - A fundraising campaign was recently created to help bring home an East Islip woman who was found dead in Florida last week.

Last month, 20-year-old Jenna Jacobsen was reported missing in Palm Beach, Florida where she was headed to attend a substance treatment center.

On Thursday, officers responded to Southwinds Drive in Lantana in response to human bones found lying in the natural area.

The sheriff's office then confirmed on Sunday the remains discovered were of Jacobsen.

Prior to the discovery Chaz Comerford, a friend of Jacobsen's father Chris Jacobsen, started a GoFundMe to help raise money for Chris as he searched for his daughter.

"I'm asking for your help in relieving some of the financial burden to allow Chris to focus solely on finding Jenna and bringing her home," Comerford wrote in May.

Following the news of Jacobsen's death, Comerford shared an update that Chris was returning home without his daughter for the time being.

"It is with the heaviest of hearts that we inform you that Jenna Jacobsen has been found. Sadly, Jenna is deceased," he wrote. "But we still must help Chris to bring Jenna home. When her remains are released to the family I'm asking we please help Chris with the expenses that are to follow. Transport of Jenna home to friends and family and a funeral at a time and place still to be arranged."

The goal of the page is to raise a total of $15,000 to help Chris. As of Tuesday, the page has nearly reached its goal, raising a total of $11,005.
