13th Annual Soldier Ride Of The Hamptons Unfolds Saturday

More than 800 cyclists are expected to attend to pay tribute to the nation's fallen heroes

EAST HAMPTON, NY —The 13th annual Soldier Ride Hamptons, a beloved East End event, is set to unfold on Saturday.

The ride begins at 9 a.m. from Ocean View Farm in Amagansett; approximately 800 cyclists are expected to follow the route from Amagansett, through East Hampton Village, and Sag Harbor, before returning to Amagansett, East Hampton Police said.

The "We Ride As One" Soldier Ride Hamptons benefits the Wounded Warrior Project and pays tribute to Sag Harbor's fallen hero Marine Lance Cpl. Jordan C. Haerter, who was killed in Iraq in 2008.

No road closures are expected but delays should be expected at Stephen Hands Path, New York State Route 114, and roads leading into Sag Harbor Village during the morning hours. Motorists are asked to use caution until the event wraps up around 12:30 p.m.

Spectators are encouraged to come out and meet and honor wounded veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan.
