Beekeeping Presentation at Marders Has Crowd Abuzz

EAST HAMPTON, NY - Marders Garden Center was abuzz Sunday as a group turned out for a beekeeping presentation.

Keeping to its motto of "For a World Too Full of Sameness", Marders Garden Center and Nursery of Bridgehampton held the event for veterans of the craft with at least one year of experience.

Despite the cold weather, the warm sunshine on the hives at Marders was enough to encourage some bees to venture out.

Mary Woltz, owner and operator of Bees' Needs, whose products are available in the Shop at Marders, lectured and answered questions about beekeeping. Attendees included Dai Dayton, President of Friends of the Long Pond Greenbelt, Joe Louchheim, Philip Dobler, Nancy Miller and John Gilman.

Jaya Hathaway brought her daughter Meera, who enjoyed learning about honey. Mike Kusick of Marders gave a guided tour of the hives and owners Kathleen Marder and Charlie Marder were onhand for the well-attended event.
