Community Turns Out For Fundraiser To Help Dell Cullum, Injured In Fall

The event, "a wild success," rocked The Stephen Talkhouse Tuesday night.

AMAGANSETT, NY — Friends continue to really to help an ardent animal lover in East Hampton who was badly injured in a fall recently.

A benefit concert planned to help Dell Cullum was held on Tuesday at The Stephen Talkhouse.

Katherine C.H.E., who produced the event, said the community came together in a big way to support a friend.

"The event was a wild success. It was so moving to see the outpouring of support from all the donations of food, and raffle and auction items, to musicians donating their time and talent, to the Talkhouse providing the venue, to everyone who came out. I know it really touched Dell's heart, and we raised a respectable amount of money, too," she said.

At the event, Katherine C.H.E. performed with drummer Anthony Genovesi and soundman/bass player Michael Mazzaraco.

Michael Pour opened the show, with other musicians including OCDC, James Benard, who sat in on drums with multiple acts throughout the night, Winston Irie and his band, who closed the night with reggae and dancing, and Michael Mazzaraco, who did the sound and sat in with many acts, C.H.E. said.

Also performing were Nancy Atlas and Inda Eaton, as well as a sea of other stand-out acts.

It took a proverbial village, C.H.E. said: A raffle drawing was organized by Lori Schultz, Jane Hastay worked the door, Laurie Trujillo-Mamay of Hamptons Foodie organized and provided most of the "amazing spread of food" for the night, Tammi Gay handled all the behind-the-scenes aspects of the Talkhouse, Karyn Mannix organized the art auction, and Phil Vega and Larry Wagner tended bar, C.H.E said.

And the event was not the only community effort taking place to help Cullum as he recovers.

A GoFundMe page set up in April by Mushie Anderson, "Dell Cullum," has raised $18,275 of its $20,000 goal so far.

Dell "fell off a ladder two stories down trying to save some animals. Please help this guy that helps the environment and all the animals that no one else does. He's an awesome person," the page reads.
