Dancing with Truffaut: Stephanie Brody-Lederman
An intimate exhibition of eight oil and acrylics on canvas that pay βhomage to the filmmaker Francois Truffautβs exploration of the seemingly small, ordinary aspects of everyday life,β says artist Stephanie Brody-Lederman. The works were completed during 2014 and 2015 in the artistβs New York City and East Hampton studios. Ms. Brody-Lederman received Top Honors in the 2013 Guild Hall Artist Members Exhibition. The awards judge was Elisabeth Sussman who is the Curator and Sondra Gilman Curator of Photography at the Whitney Museum of American Art, as well as the Curator of the 2012 and 1993 Whitney Biennial exhibitions. This is the second solo show at Guild Hall for Ms. Brody-Lederman. Her first was in 2004 as a result of her taking Top Honors in the 2003 Artists Members Exhibition. At that time the judge was Carolyn Lanchner, former Curator of the Museum of Modern Art. Only one other artist, Athos Zacharias, has ever twice won in the showβs history.
