Dead Beaked Whale Found at Bridgehampton Beach

The cause of death is still unknown.

A dead beaked whale was found on Scott Cameron Beach in Bridgehampton on Thursday afternoon.

The whale was found at about 12:15 p.m. but was not removed until Friday morning when the Southampton Town Trustees’ maintenance crew used a truck from the Town’s Highway Department to remove the whale from the beach and transport it to another truck to take it to the Riverhead Foundation for Marine Research and Preservation, according to a report in 27east.

Researchers at the foundation will determine the cause of death. So far, the cause is still unknown.

The whale is an 11-foot male back to its facility and weighed 1,071 pounds, according to a report in The East Hampton Star.
