Drunk Driver Nabbed in Amagansett: Police

AMAGANSETT, NY — A man was caught driving drunk on Alberts Landing Road in Amagansett recently, police said.

According to East Hampton Town Police, Carlos M. Grajalas, 49, was arrested on July 31 at 1:40 a.m after driving a 2001 Dodge north on Alberts Landing Road near Old Stone Highway and then being involved in a single, one-car crash, police said.

Upon investigation, he was found to have the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, bloodshot, glassy eyes, slurred speech, and was unsteady on his feet; he also performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests, police said.

Grajalas was charged with driving while intoxicated, first offense, a misdemeanor, police said.
