East Hampton High School Evacuated After Message Found On Bathroom Mirror

While officials are saying the message does not appear credible, they are taking precautionary measures.

The East Hampton School District has sent the following e-mail to the community:

“After a comprehensive search, the high school has now been deemed safe for students to return to their classrooms. Thank you to the East Hampton Police Department, administration and staff that assisted with this matter.”

East Hampton High School students have evacuated the school building on Long Lane Wednesday morning as a precautionary action due to a message on a bathroom mirror.

According to a message posted on the district’s website, the threat does not appear to be credible. Police are on the scene.

“We will always err on the side of safety,” the message reads.

According to The East Hampton Star, parents in the district received an automated phone call at about 9 a.m. to inform them the school was being evacuated.

The message was found right before 9 a.m. according to police, and they decline to say exactly what the threat said, The East Hampton Star reports.

While students were being lined up on the field, patrol officers were working with the school resource officer and school personnel to sweep the building, according to The East Hampton Star. According to police, the evacuation was just “a precautionary measure.”
