East Hampton Library Set to Unveil New Young Adult Room With Celebration

The event will take place on Saturday, Nov. 19, from noon to 2 p.m.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — East Hampton Library is set to celebrate the opening of its new Young Adult Room with a ribbon cutting ceremony, music, unveiling of a student-created wall mural and both a local pizza tasting contest and the results of a teen photo contest.

The event is slated for Saturday, November 19, from noon to 2 p.m., and the community is invited to attend for a first look at the brand-new space designed by Lee H. Skolnick Architecture + Design Partnership, or LHSA+DP, in collaboration with the Library’s teen advisory board.

"The teen advisory board worked closely with the Library’s board of managers and LHSA+DP to create the new Young Adult Room, providing hands-on input and direction regarding the new room’s layout, design elements and materials, technology components — and more — to create a vibrant, inviting, and environmentally sensitive space that reflects their interests and needs," a release from the Library said.

As well as housing the Library’s young adult book collection, the new room features a group conference space with LCD screen, study and technology stations with computers and laptops, a student-created wall mural, and display space for changing photography and art exhibits.
