East Hampton Village officials gathered Friday morning at the East Hampton Emergency Services Building on Cedar Street to wish West a Happy 100th Birthday.

Village Mayor Paul Rickenbach, village trustees and other officials took time out from their usual official business matters to honor West, an East Hampton original.

Village Historian Hugh King and Mayor Paul Rickenbach spoke of West’s long and rich life in East Hampton.

In addition, Friday was proclaimed “Lucy West Day” by official proclamation in the Village of East Hampton.

Joan D. Osborne, Chairman of the East Hampton Village Preservation Society, Loretta Orion, Village Attorney Linda Riley, and Village Trustees Barbara Borsack, Bruce Siska and Richard Lawlor were among those present. Also present to welcome family was East Hampton Village Chief of Police Gerard Larsen, Jr.

Family members Christopher and Quentin Gaines took the opportunity to check out the East Hampton Fire Department’s trucks.
