East Hampton Man Slapped With Felony DWI Charge: Police
The man was arrested near Three Mile Harbor Road, police said.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — An East Hampton man was charged with felony driving while intoxicated recently, police said.
According to East Hampton Town Police, Ismael C. Penafiel, 28, was arrested on August 5 at 1:28 a.m. after he was seen driving a gray 2003 Toyota westbound on Oakview Highway near Three Mile Harbor Road.
Police said he was seen failing to stop at a marked stop sign at Jackson Street and Three Mile Harbor Road. Penafiel, police said, had the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, bloodshot, glassy eyes, slurred speech, was unsteady on his feet and performed poorly on standardized sobriety tests.

He was arrested and charged with felony driving while intoxicated due to a prior conviction within the past 10 years, police said.
Bail was set at $2,500, police said.
