East Hampton Town Officials Preparing For Hurricane

The storm could Long Island next week.

East Hampton Town Officials announced on Thursday that they are making preparations and taking precautions for the impending storm expected to hit the area next week.

Hurricane Joaquin may reach Long Island next week.

The latest projected path for the hurricane from the National Hurricane Center shows the storm off North Carolina Monday morning and then just south of the East End of Long Island on Tuesday morning, when it will likely have been downgraded to a tropical storm.

“We are monitoring the forecast for Hurricane Joaquin carefully and planning accordingly,” the Town wrote on their website. “While the storm’s track is still uncertain, it is always best to be prepared.”
