East Hampton Woman Charged With Attempted Grand Larceny, Forgery: Police

The woman allegedly tried to deposit checks that were not hers into her account, police said.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — An East Hampton was nabbed after she tried to illegally deposit checks that were not hers into her bank account, police said.

According to East Hampton Town Police, Jennifer Russo, 35, was arrested on August 2 at 9:30 a.m. after she removed checks belonging to another person without permission and attempted to deposit them electronically into her own account, signing another person's name without permission to do so.

She was charged with two counts of fourth degree attempted grand larceny, value greater than $1,000, a misdemeanor, one count of attempted petty larceny, a misdemeanor, two counts of third degree forgery, a misdemeanor, and two counts of third degree unlawful possession of personal ID, further the commission of a crime, a misdemeanor, police said.
