Friends Come Together To Help Woman Donating Kidney To Her Daughter

Friends are rallying to help a beloved East End theater teacher as she donates a kidney to her daughter.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — A mother giving the greatest gift of all is receiving an outpouring of love from the community.

A GoFundMe, "Margaret Kestler: Spread the Love," has been set up for a South Fork mom and teacher who is "giving the ultimate gift of a kidney to her daughter and will be out of school for 12 weeks," the page, set up by Friends of Margaret, said.

So far, the page has raised $8,565 of its $20,000 goal in the past two months.

"We are setting up this fund to meet her medical bills and expenses. She is someone who for over the past 10 years has been a dedicated teacher and mentor for our theatre program on the East End and to many of our local children," the page read.

"We are hoping to support her in her time of need and give her the gift of community support and return some of the love that she has given this community. Any support will be greatly appreciated."
