Joshua Levine, beloved on the East End's culinary canvas, died tragically in 2011 in a tractor accident.

EAST HAMPTON, NY - Joshua Levine's memory and bright smile live on forever on the East End.
Levine, 35, of Sag Harbor, was crushed to death by a tractor he was working with at on Quail Hill Farm in Amagansett in 2011.
But his legacy flourishes: The Joshua Levine Memorial Foundation and Slow Food East End will host “A Moveable Feast”, an evening of food, drink, and community to celebrate Levine and support Edible School Gardens on the East End.

The event features food and silent auction items donated from local farms, fishermen, restaurants, vineyards and merchants on the East End, including food grown in school gardens.
Guests are invited to meet some of the East End's top chefs and beverage purveyors while moving from station to station and feasting on a diverse assortment of savory "small plate" delicacies.
All proceeds from the event support The Edible School Gardens Program, which includes stipends for three Master Farmers, as well as mini-grants to benefit school gardens and purchase supplies.
"The East End of Long Island has one of the largest, most successful school garden programs in the United States, 27 in all, thanks in no small part to the funds raised over the past six years in Josh's memory," organizers said in a release.
Tickets cost $100 per person for Slow Food members; $150 per person for non-members. Members will receive a one-time savings of $25 when two or more tickets are purchased. To purchase tickets, click here. To make a donation, click here.

Quail Hill is a farm on Old Stone Highway under the stewardship of the Peconic Land Trust. "Since it was established in 1990, Quail Hill Farm has grown to 30 acres serving 200 families, as well as provides produce to a local school, nearby restaurants, a farmers market, and food pantries," according to the land trust's Web site.
John v.H. Halsey, the president of the Peconic Land Trust, said in a statement released after Levine's death that the organization was deeply saddened by the "tragic loss and our heartfelt sympathies go out to Josh's family and friends."
He said Levine had been with Quail Hill for three years. He first volunteered there in 2008, then becoming a member of the summer apprentice program the following year.
"Josh's enthusiasm for farming and the Quail Hill community prompted his decision to stay on at the farm and to ultimately join the organization as a full-time staff member in the spring of 2010," Halsey said.
