Who Won? Victors Declared In East Hampton
Meet East Hampton's new Town Supervisor.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — The people have spoken — and there's a new town supervisor in East Hampton Town.
Residents headed to the polls Tuesday and elected Peter Van Scoyoc, a Dem candidate who currently sits on the town board, by a wide margin with 3652 votes. GOP candidate Manny Vilar received 2301 votes.
In the town board race, incumbent East HamptonTown Councilwoman Kathee Burke-Gonzalez retained her seat with 3889 votes; fellow Dem Jeff Bragman was elected with 3114 votes.

GOP candidates Paul Giardina received 2212 votes and Gerard Larsen, also a Republican, garnered 2160.
A Dem also took the lead in the East Hampton Town assessor's race, with Eugene DePasquale III receiving 3838 votes and Tina Silverman, a Republican, garnering 1728,

East Hampton Highway Superintendent Stephen Lynch, who ran unopposed, received 5629 votes. And Town Justice candidate Steven Tekulsky, who also ran unopposed, received 5530 votes.
Residents were able to vote for 9 trustee candidates: Francis J. Bock received 3783 votes, Bill Taylor, 3147, Richard P. Drew II, 3400, Brian Byrnes, 3077, John Aldred, 3219, Dell Cullum, 3244, Susan McGraw Keber, 2792, Francesca Rheannon, 2381, Rona Klopman, 2517, James Grimes, 2837, Gary Cobb, 1816, Willy Wolter, 1489, Joseph Bloecker, 2561, Michael Havens, 2172, Lyndsey Hayes, 1871, Diane McNally, 2586, Susan Vorphal, 2936, and Julie Evans, 2126.
Incumbent Supervisor Larry Cantwell announced this year that he would not be seeking re-election to a third term.
In his bio, Van Scoyoc noted that his roots in East Hampton harken back to the 1700s. He operated a residential construction company and a seasonal charter fishing business in town for more than 20 years.
"He is intimately familiar with the land and waters of East Hampton and the issues we face making ends meet and sustaining what is best about this place and community," the bio says. "Peter has devoted much of his time to public service. He has coached Little league, girl's softball, and youth soccer in East Hampton and Springs. He is currently serving his sixth year on the East Hampton town board and his fourth year as deputy supervisor. Prior to being elected, Peter served 6 years on the East Hampton Town planning board and five years on the East Hampton zoning board of appeals, his last year as chair."
