Man Busted for Driving Drunk After Accident: Police

EAST HAMPTON, NY - An East Hampton man was arrested and charged with DWI after a car accident in Amagansett, police said.

According to East Hampton Town Police, Richard M. Kostura, 65, was arrested on June 25 at 11:12 p.m. on Montauk Highway in Amagansett after he drove his 2007 Toyota west near Hedges Lane and was involved in the accident.

He was found to have the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, bloodshot, glassy eyes, and slurred speech, was unsteady on his feet and failed standardized field sobriety tests administered, police said.

Kostura was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and driving while intoxicated, first offense, a misdemeanor, police said.
