Man Slapped with Felony DWI Charge on Hands Creek Road: Police

The driver failed to use his designated lane, police said.

EAST HAMPTON, NY - An East Hampton man was nabbed for drunk driving on Hands Creek Road Friday, police said.

According to East Hampton Town Police, Alex M. Naranjo, 29, was arrested at 1:30 a.m. after he was seen driving a 2004 Mitsubishi sedan north on Hands Creek Road and failing to use his designated lane.

Naranjo, police said, had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, slurred speech, bloodshot, glassy eyes, and was unsteady on his feet. He performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests, police said.

He was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, a felony, due to a prior conviction in the past 10 years, police said. Naranjo was released on $5,000 cash bail, police said.
