Man Stashed Heroin For Sale in Hamptons Mailboxes: Police
The Sag Harbor man was nabbed in an East Hampton buy and bust operation, police said.

EAST HAMPTON, NY โ A buy and bust operation by detectives led to the arrest of a man who was stashing heroin for sale in East Hampton mail boxes, police said.
According to East Hampton Town Police, Joseph A. Dowling, 24, of Sag Harbor was arrested on July 22 on Lighthouse Lane in Sag Harbor, where he was found with a quantity of heroin and a hypodermic needle.
He was charged with one count of third degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, one count of third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, and one count of criminal possession of a hypodermic needle, police said.

Dowling was arrested after an investigation by East Hampton Town police detectives, where police learned he was using mail boxes in East Hampton and other locations to leave heroin in exchange for cash, police said.
He was transported to East Hampton Town Police headquarters where he was processed and held for arraignment on July 23 in Sag Harbor Justice Court, police said.
