Montauk Man Arrested Twice in One Month for Driving While Impaired By Drugs; Kicking, Biting Cops: Police

BREAKING: The Montauk man was arrested by East Hampton Town and Village Police in the separate incidents, police said.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — A Montauk man was arrested twice in September and charged with driving while impaired by drugs, driving drunk and kicking cops, among other charges, police said.

According to East Hampton Town Police, Christopher Verity, 23, of Montauk, was arrested on September 11 at 4:10 a.m. on West Lake Drive in Montauk and charged with resisting arrest, a misdemeanor; when police attempted to place Verity under arrest and charge him with harassment, he engaged in "fighting, or in violent, tumultuous or threatening behavior, took a fighting stance with uniformed police officers while attempting to get to a second party. The defendant then kicked the officers and bit" a police officer until he was subdued, police said.

Verity was also charged with criminal mischief, intent to damage property, a misdemeanor after he "repeatedly" kicked and head-butted the rear right door and window of an East Hampton Town police car, police said.

During the same incident, Verity was charged with three counts of second degree harassment, physical contact, a violation, after he kicked a police officer once in the left leg, kicked a second police officer, twice in the legs with both his legs, and kicked a third police officer in the upper leg with his foot, police said.

Bail was set at $500, police said.

Next, according to East Hampton Village Police, Christopher S. Verity, 23, of Montauk, was arrested on September 22 at 2:59 p.m. at the intersection of Main Street and Mill Hill Lane.

Verity was charged with first degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a felony, first degree operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs, a misdemeanor, operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, first offense, a misdemeanor, and moving from lane unsafely, a violation, police said.

Bail was set at $7,500, police said.
