Photos: 'Caught On Canvas': East Hampton Historical Society Hosts Opening Reception

The works depict landscapes and views of eastern Long Island.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — The beauty of the East End came alive through artists long gone on Friday as the East Hampton Historical Society hosted an opening reception, "Caught on Canvas: Views of Eastern Long Island, Landscapes from the Wallace Collection, 1850 to 1935."

The exhibition, on view at the Clinton Academy on Main Street in East Hampton, is a preview of works included in a much larger collection that was recently purchased by the EHHS, thanks to a grant by the Robert David Lion Gardiner Foundation, and loans from Terry Wallace of the Wallace Gallery.

EHHS Executive Director Jill Malusky hosted EHHS members, friends and others interested inLong Island's rich art history. Also in attendance were Terry Wallace and Kathryn Curran, executive director of the Robert David Lion Gardiner Foundation.
