Congratulations to Montauk's beloved Fran Ecker, who was named "Person of the Year" by the East Hampton Rotary Club!

MONTAUK, NY — There is no one more community minded than Montauk's Frances Ecker.

Responding to the needs of Montauk's hungry 33 years ago, Ecker established the Montauk Food Pantry.

On Monday evening, the East Hampton Rotary Club formally thanked her and named her the Club's "Person of the Year" at a dinner held at Harvest in Montauk.

Love filled the air as family and friends joined with East Hampton Rotary Club President Joseph Hren III and its next president, Shawn Miller, as they praised Ecker for her generosity. Village and town proclamations were presented by East Hampton Village Deputy Mayor Bruce Siska and East Hampton Town Councilman Peter Van Scoyoc.
