Photos: Medical Community Comes Together To Support Cure for Asthma

National Jewish Health held its fundraiser in East Hampton Saturday.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — Medical professionals came together Saturday evening for an event aimed at finding a cure for asthma.

National Jewish Health held its "Bella Sera by the Sea" Cocktails and Conversation event at the East Hampton home of Michele and Marty Cohen, whose Cohen Family Asthma Institute is dedicated to finding a cure for severe asthma within the next five years.

Committee chairs Gloria and Lawrence Appel, Colombe Nicholas and Leonard Rosenberg joined guests for an update about medical progress in the field from Dr. Michael Salem, President of National Jewish Health, and Dr. Michael Wechsler, co-director of the Cohen Family Asthma Institute.

National Jewish Health, located in Denver, is known in the medical community as the leading respiratory hospital in the nation, and is, according to the organization, the only facility in the world dedicated exclusively to groundbreaking medical research and treatment of patients with respiratory, cardiac, immune and related disorders.

Last year, The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and National Jewish Health announced the official opening of the Mount Sinai − National Jewish Health Respiratory Institute at Mount Sinai’s campus in Manhattan.
