Retired Police Chief Gerard Larsen To Run For East Hampton Town Board
Gerard Larsen, who served for 13 years as the East Hampton Village Chief of Police, is eyeing a political career.

EAST HAMPTON, NY β Retired East Hampton Village Police Chief Gerard Larsen has decided to throw his hat into the political arena, seeking a seat on the East Hampton Town board.
A release from the East Hampton Town Republican Party confirmed that Larsen will run in the November election.
Larsen, registered with the Independence Party, has lived in East Hampton since he was eight years old, where he has raised his six children with wife Lisa Mulhern-Larsen; the couple owns the Protec Security Services, the release said.

A 1982 graduate of East Hampton High School, Larsen was hired by the East Hampton Village Police Department in 1983 as a traffic control officer, serving as a seasonal police officer in 1984, and coming onboard full-time in 1986. He served as detective, sergeant, lieutenant, and chief of police; Larsen also has a bachelor's degree in public affairs from the State University of New York.
After 32 years with the EHVPD, 13 as chief of police, Larsen retired recently, he has also managed the town's 911 center and assisted with the creation of the village's paid paramedic program.

"With his many years of management, leadership experience, his involvement with union issues, negotiating union contracts and assisting with contracts for outside services will make him a well-qualified town councilman," the release from the East Hampton Town Republican Party said.
Larsen, the release added, also was elected president of the Police Association of Suffolk County in 2006, is a member of the Suffolk County Chiefs Association, the International Association of Police Chiefs, and the East End Police Chiefs Association, has organized a host of community events, and has coached and served as president of the East Hampton Little League for more than 10 years.
"Jerry's record proves that he knows and loves East Hampton and will do a great job for all its residents," the GOP party said.
