A Sense of Place: Selections from the Permanent Collection

A Sense of Place presents 62 works that have been inspired by the uniquely inherent topography of the East End of Long Island.

Saturday October 24-Sunday January 3

A Sense of Place presents 62 works that have been inspired by the uniquely inherent topography of the East End of Long Island. Spanning the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries, the exhibition features 39 artists working in a variety of mediums including painting, pastel, lithograph, etching, gouache, photography, watercolor and mixed media. Many of the pieces are rendered realistically as in the beautiful line drawing by Joan Baren while others are abstracts such as the works of Henry Nadler and John Register. The most recent piece by Ty Stroudsberg of Sagg Pond Vineyard is an Impressionistic landscape. Other noteworthy pieces include a series of photographs by Anne Sager focusing on iconic local landmarks, i.e. the Candy Kitchen, as well as places long vanished, including the Barefoot Contessa shop.
