Town, East Hampton Arts Council Team Up for 'Art on the Walls'

EAST HAMPTON, NY-Students will get the chance to express their inner creativity next month at East Hampton High School.

Heather Evans, an art instructor at East Hampton High School, has facilitated a joint venture with East Hampton Arts Council members, including Kate Mueth, Colleen McGowan and Janet Jennings, to sponsor an “Art on the “Walls” contest during the high school’s March Madness Week, from March 14 to March 18.

Each class will be provided with paint, brushes and a piece of Masonite to design and paint together, organizers said.

Using a pre-determined shape, a set of guidelines, and their creative imaginations, students will have just one day to create a painting using their class colors.

The paintings will be judged by the East Hampton Arts Council on Thursday, March 17th during the March Madness week long events.

“The East Hampton Arts Council and the Town of East Hampton are proud to sponsor this creative event,” said Councilwoman Sylvia Overby, East Hampton town board liaison to the Arts Council.
