Trial Date For Former Executive Accused of Raping a Woman in East Hampton Set For April

The alleged incident occurred back in 2013.

A trial date has been decided for the case of a former Goldman Sachs executive who was accused of raping a 20-year-old woman in East Hampton in 2013, according to multiple reports.

The case against Jason Lee, now 39, will take place on April 6 at the Riverside courtroom of New York State Supreme Court Justice Barbara Kahn, according to The East Hampton Star.

He was charged with first degree rape, third degree assault, and sexual misconduct, according to 27east.

During Lee’s indictment, defense attorney Edward Burke Jr. said that the sex between a Goldman Sachs executive and the woman who accused him of rape was consensual.

The alleged incident occurred in August 2013 when East Hampton Town Police arrested Lee, who was a 37-year-old married man at the time, at his rental home on Clover Leaf Lane where he allegedly forced himself on the woman, according to 27east.

The woman, who was visiting from Ireland, said Lee attacked her in the bathroom of his home after celebrating his 37th birthday at Georgica restaurant in Wainscott when he met the woman, buying her and friends drinks throughout the night, according to a Patch report.

Later that night, a police officer was called to the house to investigate what was later determined to be a false report of a stolen vehicle, and was informed of the rape.

Lee was then found hiding in his car 45 minutes to an hour later, according to the report. Detectives were called and the woman was taken to a hospital for an exam.

Lee was indicted in September 2013 during which his defense attorney, Edward Burke Jr., said Lee did have consensual sex with the 20-year-old woman.

“We have what is an apparent rush to arrest my client, a rush to the grand jury and a rush to indict my client,” Burke said at the time of the indictment.
