Woman Receives Call From Possible Scammer
An East Hampton woman received a call she believed to be a scam.

After both East Hampton Town Police and Southampton Town Police reported phone scams in the area, East Hampton Village Police responded to a report that a woman received a suspicious call she believed to be a scam last Thursday.
The woman reported that she received a call from someone claiming to be from the IRS telling the woman she was being sued, according to police.
The caller told the woman to call a different number for additional information, according to police.

The woman said she knew it was a scam and never attempted to call the number.
